Buying Compost
Hayat Compost was founded in 2024 by Pete and Becci to bless Bradford and our environment. We want to reduce the amount of food waste going into landfill and sitting there producing CO2. Instead we want to turn it into fertile compost. We also aim to help Bradford to grow things. Colourful flowers and plants to make our city even more beautiful and green. Tasty fruit and veg to bring flavour and health to our lives.
We are a small social enterprise that believes we have a God given responsibility to care for our planet and each other. We love all things compost related. So if you are also Compost crazy, or just Compost curious, why not pop by our site in Girlington for a cuppa and a chat on how you could be involved.
Our name, Hayat, comes from the Arabic word حياة which means to have life or revive. This in turn comes from a Hebrew root word חָיָה. We felt this captured our hope for Hayat compost.
About Hayat Compost
Contact us:
schools@hayatcompost.co.uk
We understand that schools get through a lot of fruit and vegetables and we would
love to chat about how we might help you in composting the waste from these. We
would also like to teach the children about composting and how their families could
compost. We could do this at an assembly or smaller classes and also in the future
hope to offer visits to our composting site to see this in action.
We would love to work with your
school to help you compost your fruit
and vegetable waste and excite the
children about composting.
